Biocides Glutraldehyde Based (INNOVA BCD 500) In Bombay
INNOVA BCD 500 is a concentrated Non-oxidizing organic biocide formulated with Gluteraldehyde and other non-oxidizing molecules based broad spectrum biocide for control of bacteria cooling water systems. It is non-ionic and non foaming.
INNOVA BCD 500 has limited effectiveness against algae and fungi. The kill mechanism is by cross linking outer proteins of cell and preventing cell permeability. INNOVA BCD 500 is a fast acting biocide with contact time of 3 to 4 hours, perhaps 4 to 6 hours with difficult slimes. It is effective over a wide range of pH typically 6.6 to 9.2, and compatible with chlorine.
Advantages :
INNOVA BCD 500 is a good bactericide, especially with difficult and persistent organisms due to its good penetrating ability.
It is also effective against SRBs and Biofilms. It is readily Biodegradable.
Dosage :
Dosage in cooling water treatment programs 100 to 125 ppm for effective control of biocide activity, for cooling waters. Although heavily slimed cooling systems may need 200 to 300 ppm as an initial, cleanup shock dose.
Method of Feeding :
INNOVA BCD 500 can be fed as received or diluted with water minimum 10% concentration with any chemical feed solution. The chemical should be added to cooling tower basin (or any other point, which provides uniform mixing) addition should be made to metering pump to minimize handling.
Feed Requirements :
Badly fouled systems must be cleaned before treatment to start. INITIAL DOSE - When the system is noticeably fouled, slug feed 100 to 150 ppm of INNOVA BCD 500 in the system. SUBSEQUENT DOSE - When the Microbial count is evident, slug feed 80 to 125 ppm of INNOVA BCD 500.
Control Testing :
The best indication of the successful application of INNOVA BCD 500 is visual inspection of tower surfaces or monitoring changes in heat transfer on metal surface of process equipment.
Use of on-site bacterial counts or microscopic examination provide relative indicators of system cleanliness and biological control. If bacteria counts are used, Note that counts may be high immediately after biocide addition. Counts will be lower as control is achieved.
