In Agra's industrial boilers (textile processing, tanneries, dairies, hotels, rubber goods), steam condensate is often contaminated with carbon dioxide (CO₂) from bicarbonate breakdown, forming corrosive carbonic acid that lowers pH to 4-5. This causes severe thinning of steel condensate pipes, leading to "red water" and frequent leaks. Our treatment includes neutralizing amines (cyclohexylamine, morpholine, diethylaminoethanol - DEAE) and filming amines (octadecylamine). Neutralizing amines volatilize with steam and raise condensate pH to 8-9, while filming amines form a protective monolayer on metal surfaces. For Agra's long-distance condensate return systems (e.g., hotel complexes with distributed steam users), we recommend a blend of low- and high-distribution ratio amines to protect the entire system. Our Condensate Treatment 401 (amine blend) also contains an oxygen scavenger (erythorbic acid) to remove residual DO. Dosing is based on boiler feed water flow, typically 10-50 ppm of amine product. For food-grade applications (dairy, sweets manufacturing), we supply FDA-approved amines (morpholine and DEAE under 21 CFR 173.310).
