Thione-based biocides (typically 2-mercaptobenzothiazole or related thiazole derivatives) are specialty biocides from Innova Corporate for Agra's metalworking fluids, industrial lubricants, and closed-loop water systems. Thione compounds are effective against a wide range of bacteria and fungi, with particular efficacy against Pseudomonas species that form tenacious biofilms in recirculating cooling towers. For Agra's engineering and automotive component manufacturing units (such as those in Agra's industrial estates), thione-based biocides protect cutting fluids from rancidity and bacterial degradation, extending fluid life by 300%. In closed cooling loops (chillers, diesel generator jackets), thione provides long-term preservation without breaking down (stable up to 80°C, pH 6-10). It works by chelating essential metal ions from microbial enzymes. Thione is non-foaming, non-volatile, and has very low odor – important for Agra's facilities located near residential areas. However, it can stain yellow metals (copper, brass), so caution is needed in systems with copper alloy heat exchangers. For Agra's textile dyeing machines (which have complex recirculation loops), thione prevents algae and bacterial slime in dye baths without affecting dye chemistry. Dosage: 50-150 ppm initial, then 10-30 ppm maintenance. Compatible with non-ionic and anionic surfactants. Not recommended for use with strong oxidizing agents. The product is available as a 40% active liquid dispersion.
Dosage in cooling water treatment programs 15 to 30 ppm for effective control of biocide activity, for cooling waters.
INNOVA BCD 505 can be fed as received or diluted with water minimum 10% concentration with any chemical feed solution. The chemical should be added to cooling tower basin (or any other point, which provides uniform mixing) addition should be made to metering pump to minimize handling.
Badly fouled systems must be cleaned before treatment to start. INITIAL DOSE - When the system is noticeably fouled, slug feed 30 to 50 ppm of INNOVA BCD 505 in the system. SUBSEQUENT DOSE - When the Microbial count is evident, slug feed 20 to 30 ppm of INNOVA BCD 505.
The best indication of the successful application of INNOVA BCD 505 is visual inspection of tower surfaces or monitoring changes in heat transfer on metal surface of process equipment.
Uses of on-site bacterial counts or microscopic examination provide relative indicators of system cleanliness and biological control. If bacteria counts are used, Note that counts may be high immediately after biocide addition. Counts will be lower as control is achieved.
INNOVA BCD 505 is available in 25Kgs, 50Kgs & 200 Kgs.
