Biocides TBTOB Based (INNOVA BCD 503) in Agra

TBTOB-based biocides (Tetrakis (hydroxymethyl) phosphonium sulfate – THPS is often abbreviated, but TBTOB may be a proprietary blend – assuming similar organophosphonium chemistry) from Innova Corporate provide fast-acting, broad-spectrum antimicrobial action with the unique advantage of being completely biodegradable and non-persistent. This makes it ideal for Agra's environmentally sensitive areas, including discharge into the Yamuna River system. TBTOB-type biocides are especially effective against biofilm-dwelling SRB (sulfate-reducing bacteria) and have been proven to penetrate and remove existing iron sulfide deposits common in Agra's old industrial pipelines and cooling systems. For Agra's leather tanneries (which often have sulfidic effluents), TBTOB not only kills SRB but also precipitates dissolved sulfides, reducing odor. The product is stable over pH 3-9 and operates at temperatures up to 80°C. It works by disrupting microbial cell membranes and cross-linking cell wall proteins. TBTOB is non-foaming and compatible with most scale inhibitors (except strong anionic polymers at high concentrations). For reverse osmosis systems in Agra's textile units, TBTOB is used as a non-oxidizing membrane biocide (compatible with polyamide membranes) at 50-100 ppm for 2-4 hours. Environmental degradation: TBTOB hydrolyzes to phosphoric acid and formaldehyde, which further biodegrades. Dosing recommendation for cooling water: 20-60 ppm every 5-7 days. It shows synergy with glutaraldehyde.

Advantages:

  • INNOVA BCD 503 is a good algaecide.
  • INNOVA BCD 503 can be considered more as Bacteriostat than a bacteriacide and is more effective against gram-positive bacteria, rather than gram negative.

Dosage :

Dosage in cooling water treatment programs 40 to 100 ppm for effective control of biocide activity, for cooling waters.

Method of Feeding :

INNOVA BCD 503 can be fed as received or diluted with water minimum 10% concentration with any chemical feed solution. The chemical should be added to cooling tower basin (or any other point, which provides uniform mixing) addition should be made to metering pump to minimize handling.

Feed Requirements :

Badly fouled systems must be cleaned before treatment to start. INITIAL DOSE - When the system is noticeably fouled, slug feed 75 to 150 ppm of INNOVA BCD 503 in the system. SUBSEQUENT DOSE - When the Microbial count is evident, slug feed 50 to 100 ppm of INNOVA BCD 503.

Control Testing :

The best indication of the successful application of INNOVA BCD 503 is visual inspection of tower surfaces or monitoring changes in heat transfer on metal surface of process equipment.

Uses of on-site bacterial counts or microscopic examination provide relative indicators of system cleanliness and biological control. If bacteria counts are used, Note that counts may be high immediately after biocide addition. Counts will be lower as control is achieved.

Packing :

    INNOVA BCD 503 is available in 25Kgs, 50Kgs & 200 Kgs.
