Innova Corporate (India) offers a high-performance Glutaraldehyde based Biocide, a broad-spectrum, non-oxidizing biocide widely used across industries in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Glutaraldehyde is one of the most effective and well-established biocides for industrial water treatment, particularly valued for its excellent biofilm penetration capabilities, effectiveness against sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB), and broad-spectrum activity. Facilities in Jubail, Yanbu, Riyadh, Dammam, and Jeddah including oil & gas refineries, petrochemical plants, desalination plants, power plants, steel mills, and aluminum smelters benefit from our Glutaraldehyde biocide. The product works by cross-linking proteins and nucleic acids in microbial cells, leading to irreversible cell death. Unlike many biocides that only affect actively dividing cells, Glutaraldehyde kills both active and dormant microorganisms, making it highly effective even in challenging conditions with high organic loads - common in Saudi Arabia's oil & gas and petrochemical effluents. Our Glutaraldehyde biocide is particularly effective against sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) which cause pitting corrosion, hydrogen sulfide odors (rotten egg smell), and microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC) in closed systems, refinery cooling circuits, oil & gas water injection lines, and stagnant areas. SRB is a major problem in Saudi Arabia's older industrial facilities and oil fields where aging piping has biofilm deposits and high sulfate content in water (2000-5000 ppm SO₄²⁻). It also provides excellent control of Pseudomonas, Legionella (critical for cooling tower safety), E. coli, and various fungi and algae. The product demonstrates rapid kill within 4-8 hours and offers good residual effect (24-72 hours) depending on system conditions - beneficial for Saudi Arabia's high-temperature conditions where faster degradation occurs (45-55°C). Key applications in Saudi Arabia include cooling water treatment (all industries), refinery water treatment (Jubail, Yanbu - SRB control critical), desalination plant pre-treatment (biofouling control), oil & gas water injection (SRB control - Saudi Aramco operations), petrochemical plant cooling water, and ETP disinfection. Our Glutaraldehyde biocide is effective across a wide pH range (6-9) and at temperatures up to 60°C. It is compatible with most water treatment chemicals including corrosion inhibitors and antiscalants, but should not be mixed with strong reducing agents like sodium bisulfite. Typical dosage ranges from 20-100 ppm for maintenance to 100-300 ppm for shock treatment. The product is biodegradable and under normal usage, breaks down into harmless byproducts. By using our Glutaraldehyde biocide, Saudi industries achieve superior biofilm control compared to oxidizing biocides alone, effective SRB control preventing pitting corrosion (extending equipment life by 3-5 years), reduced system fouling and improved heat transfer (10-15% improvement), reduced hydrogen sulfide odors, compatibility with desalination membranes and RO systems at recommended dosages, and compliance with Royal Commission and MEWA discharge standards.
Dosage in cooling water treatment programs 100 to 125 ppm for effective control of biocide activity, for cooling waters. Although heavily slimed cooling systems may need 200 to 300 ppm as an initial, cleanup shock dose.
INNOVA BCD 500 can be fed as received or diluted with water minimum 10% concentration with any chemical feed solution. The chemical should be added to cooling tower basin (or any other point, which provides uniform mixing) addition should be made to metering pump to minimize handling.
Badly fouled systems must be cleaned before treatment to start. INITIAL DOSE - When the system is noticeably fouled, slug feed 100 to 150 ppm of INNOVA BCD 500 in the system. SUBSEQUENT DOSE - When the Microbial count is evident, slug feed 80 to 125 ppm of INNOVA BCD 500.
The best indication of the successful application of INNOVA BCD 500 is visual inspection of tower surfaces or monitoring changes in heat transfer on metal surface of process equipment.
Use of on-site bacterial counts or microscopic examination provide relative indicators of system cleanliness and biological control. If bacteria counts are used, Note that counts may be high immediately after biocide addition. Counts will be lower as control is achieved.
INNOVA BCD 500 is available in 25Kgs, 50Kgs & 200 Kgs
