Biocides Glutraldehyde Based (INNOVA BCD 500) in Assam

Innova Corporate (India) supplies Glutaraldehyde (25% or 50% active solution) – a broad-spectrum, non-oxidizing biocide for Assam's industrial water treatment, tea processing, oil & gas, and paper applications. Glutaraldehyde is highly effective against bacteria (including SRB and Legionella), fungi, and algae over a wide pH range (6-9). For Assam's cooling towers in oil refineries (Digboi, Numaligarh), paper mills, and large tea gardens, glutaraldehyde provides rapid kill and residual activity (2-10 days), ideal for weekly shock dosing at 50-150 ppm. For reverse osmosis (RO) systems in tea gardens (boiler feed), it is used for membrane sanitization (0.5-1% solution for 30 minutes) and storage – it does not damage polyamide membranes. In tea processing, glutaraldehyde is used to sanitize water storage tanks and distribution lines before and after the plucking season. For oil and gas operations in Upper Assam (onshore fields), it is used for water injection and produced water treatment. For paper mills, it controls slime and bacteria in white water loops. The product is non-foaming and compatible with most scale inhibitors. It has a characteristic pungent odor – proper ventilation required. Its half-life in water is 2-10 days depending on pH, temperature, and organic load – in Assam's climate, half-life is 5-7 days. Glutaraldehyde is synergistic with quaternary ammonium compounds and DBNPA – used in rotation to prevent resistance. Available in 25L carboys, 200L drums, and 1000L IBCs (25% or 50% concentrations). For food contact applications (tea processing equipment), we provide 50% glutaraldehyde with FDA 21 CFR 173.255 compliance. Shelf life: 2 years when stored below 30°C. We provide on-site residual testing using Schiff's reagent for Assam's customers.

Advantages in Assam:

  • INNOVA BCD 500 is a superior bactericide for Assam industries, especially with difficult and persistent organisms due to its excellent penetrating ability.
  • It is highly effective against SRBs and Biofilms found in local cooling circuits and is readily Biodegradable, ensuring environmental safety for the capital city.

Dosage :

Dosage in cooling water treatment programs 100 to 125 ppm for effective control of biocide activity, for cooling waters. Although heavily slimed cooling systems may need 200 to 300 ppm as an initial, cleanup shock dose.

Method of Feeding :

INNOVA BCD 500 can be fed as received or diluted with water minimum 10% concentration with any chemical feed solution. The chemical should be added to cooling tower basin (or any other point, which provides uniform mixing) addition should be made to metering pump to minimize handling.

Feed Requirements :

Badly fouled systems must be cleaned before treatment to start. INITIAL DOSE - When the system is noticeably fouled, slug feed 100 to 150 ppm of INNOVA BCD 500 in the system. SUBSEQUENT DOSE - When the Microbial count is evident, slug feed 80 to 125 ppm of INNOVA BCD 500.

Control Testing :

The best indication of the successful application of INNOVA BCD 500 is visual inspection of tower surfaces or monitoring changes in heat transfer on metal surface of process equipment.

Use of on-site bacterial counts or microscopic examination provide relative indicators of system cleanliness and biological control. If bacteria counts are used, Note that counts may be high immediately after biocide addition. Counts will be lower as control is achieved.

Packing :

    INNOVA BCD 500 is available in 25Kgs, 50Kgs & 200 Kgs
